Although I am a litigator and trial attorney by training, I view myself first and foremost as a problem-solver. That is to say, in many instances where parties are in conflict, there may be solutions that are quicker and less costly, both in terms of legal fees and the clients' use of resources, than litigation. Usually, such alternatives should be explored both before a lawsuit is filed and periodically over the course of litigation to ensure that opportunities for resolution are recognized if they exist, and if appropriate, those opportunities are taken. Some cases, however, require aggressive representation to protect a client's rights and interests, and compromise is not an option. That also must be the client's decision after being fully advised about the law as it applies to the relevant facts.
